We took a wrong turn (many many many wrong turns really), when we were in Walvis Bay. We learnt some important lessons that everyone who drives a car with a little button that says "4L" should know.
1. Confidence
Stop and chat with other people you meet along the way who are stuck. Laugh at their folly as you leave them behind, confident that the same won't happen to you.
2. Spin
Spin spin spin. Spin until your undercarriage is nestling on the ground and you only see the very top of your wheels.
3. Equipment
Don't bother bringing an appropriate jack and recovery tracks.
For bonus points:
- make sure the tide is busy coming in.
- don't bother driving on roads.
- make sure there are no rocks or sticks you could use for additional grip.
