Our original route to Tankwa, from Wupperthal via the Bidue valley has been confirmed to not be an option. The river crossing is waist deep. Definately do-able with the Jimney, but not smart if we have another option.
For now we're staying very comfortably in Houdenbek while we plan our next move.
We just saw a video on youtube, "Riding to Wuppertal on Bidouvalley Road, Tankwa Karoo". In general the road looks good, but there are a few portions a bit rough, then there is the river crossing. I'm so glad you decided against crossing the river on waist deep water ! Be safe and enjoy the trip !
